The change in the scope of responsibility of the Polish Armed Forces by establishing a new form of action: military operation on the territory of Poland in times of peace is a fundamental change in the statutory scope and forms of action of the Polish Armed Forces, which in particular affects the organisation and responsibility of the Ministry of National Defence and the Polish Armed Forces. The change is a consequence of the need for the state to adapt and the crisis resulting from the actions of Belarus (on the Polish border) and Russia (testing the Polish security system; consequences of the war in Ukraine). The need for the Polish Armed Forces to support the Border Guard in protecting the land border forced changes in the operation of the Polish Armed Forces in times of peace. The challenge, of course, remains the issue of the Polish Armed Forces gaining the ability to independently carry out (while maintaining the principles of the rule of law) the tasks previously assigned by law to the internal security services and the protection of the state’s borders.
